History

This pride ‘City Palace’ of Jaipur was commissioned by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh (Founder Of Jaipur) in 1927. Amber was the capital of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, but due to water scarcity and a growing population, he decided to build a new residence for his royal family. He commissioned the construction of the City Palace and declared it the new capital.

This Seminary palace complex features great Mughal, Rajput, and the European architectural influences, which create the concept of a special combination. During its history, different rulers added other sections while reinforcing the royal lineage as well as cultural identity.

Diwan-e-khas

This complex was used as a meeting hall of Rulers of the capital. This hall is famous for its two silver vessels, which are the main attraction due to their elegant features. Each vessel weighs 345 kg when empty and carried 4,000 liters of water. Historians believe that these vessels were filled with 14,000 melted silver coins.

Timings of City Palace Jaipur

The City Palace in Jaipur can be explored by visitors at 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM daily. Visitors are also able to visit the palace in the evening twilight, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM for the enchanting lightshows

The cost of entry to the City Palace in Jaipur is different based on indian residents and foreign tourister or childrens:
